Delta Stands Still For Keyamo’s Home Coming

It was a day of glory today, Thursday November 14th, 2019 at the Uvwie Kingdom, Efunrun, Delta State as all and sundry trooped out enmasse to celebrate one of their own, Festus Keyamo SAN, the honourable minister of State for Labour and Employment for a grand homecoming reception.

The ancient kingdom of Uvwie was practically turned into a jubilating mood as sons and daughters were in awe of topflight dignitaries who had come from far and near to honour the son of the soil, Barrister Festus Keyamo SAN, the Omorokaro of Uvwie Kingdom.

It was one event that will linger for long, in the minds of the young and old of Uvwie Kingdom. Aside the sight of dignitaries, so many lives were touched through the empowerment programme initiated by the honourable Minister who doled out 1000 laptops computers to unemployed youths, sewing and welding machines to artisans, disbursement of loans to women and micro traders and so on.

The Minister of State, Keyamo SAN, was able to empower in total, 100 unemployed youths through laptops distribution, another 700 women and other artisans were also smiled home with sewing and welding machines under the National Directorate of Employment’s Micro Enterprise Enhancement Scheme- MEES in line with the federal government directives of job creation.

The event was graced by dignitaries such as the honourable Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, the Director General, National Directorate of Employment, Dr. Nasir Mohammed Ladan Argungu, the royal father of Uvwie Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Emmanuel E. Sideso, OON, JP ABE 1, former speaker of Delta State, Victor Ochie among others.

The National Directorate of Employment-NDE is one of the parastatals directly under the supervision of the honourable minster of State, Mr. Festus Keyamo with a mission to design and implement job creation programmes that will promote attitudinal change, employment generation, poverty reduction and wealth creation.

The grand reception was held at the Palace of Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, His Royal Majesty,
Emmanuel E. Sideso, OON, JP ABE 1 while the empowerment programme that saw 1000 unemployed youths being empowered with new HP laptops and about 700 women and artisans getting sewing and welding machines took place at the PTI Conference Centre Complex, Efunrun.
